ORR Compassionate Care Center

The William and Mildred Orr Compassionate Care Center provides shelter and nonmedical respite care for adults who are recuperating from an injury or illness. It is a comfortable place for people who are unable to return to their prior living arrangements, due to their current medical condition, to rest and heal in many ways.
The Orr Center provides a home-like setting for up to 12 individuals during the first few weeks after their discharge from the hospital. Admission requires a referral from a counselor or case manager.

During this critical period, guests are housed in comfortable double rooms and enjoy three nutritious meals and a snack each day. In addition to day-to-day help such as laundry service, they receive careful supervision in taking their medications. Throughout their stay, they’re surrounded by friendly, caring people who help them regain their strength.
The Orr Center takes a holistic approach to the healing process. In addition to good nutrition and nonmedical care, guests are helped through prayer, individual counseling, and group recovery meetings. This combination of supports, provided in a caring and pastoral atmosphere, is offered to help heal the whole person.

Volunteers play a critical role at the Orr Center, assisting staff, spending quality time with guests, planning special events, and helping to ensure that each person’s stay is a pleasant and meaningful experience.
Contact the Orr Center for further information or to discuss a referral. To volunteer at the Center – and ensure there’s plenty of “tender loving care” to go around – please contact the EECM Volunteer Coordinator.
