For over 50 years, the East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) has been a pillar of hope and compassion in Pittsburgh, providing essential support to individuals and families facing poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness. What began in 1970 as a small coalition of faith communities has grown into a vital resource for thousands, ensuring no one in our community is left without shelter, nourishment, or opportunity.

Today, our mission is more urgent than ever, as 12.1% of Allegheny County residents struggle with food insecurity. EECM operates the region’s only food pantry open five days a week, serving as a critical safety net for nearly 1,700 monthly visits and more than 4,000 registered individuals, many of whom must choose between rent, utilities, or food. With inflation driving up the cost of basic necessities, the demand on our pantry has never been greater—but together, we can make a difference.
